Spotify possesses revealed it has removed the five play-per-song cap it added upon its free customers in April 2011.

Speaking by its online blog, Spotify stated it had some “mighty fine news for all Spotify Free customers”.

Adding that the five play-per-song limit had been eliminated meaning “You will be able to enjoy your preferred songs as often as you like.”

Spotify customers have indicated their happiness with the news, although some complained that it is insufficient as UK free users are still limited to 10 hours of listening each month.

The blog post continues: “That’s right, no longer greyed-out songs. The tracks that you couldn’t enjoy before will once more be available for your listening pleasure.”

The change is among many this year, such as the removal of its download function, changes to the desktop player and the release of a browser-based offering.s
